Smart Money API ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our API service and website.

  • Account information: Email address and hashed password when you register
  • Payment information: Billing details processed securely by our payment provider (Stripe). We never store your full card number.
  • Communications: Messages you send to our support team

  • API usage logs: Endpoint called, symbol, timestamp, response time, and HTTP status code. Direction parameter is logged for usage analytics.
  • IP addresses: For rate limiting and fraud prevention
  • Browser data: User agent, referring URL, and basic device information for website visitors

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Authenticate your API requests and enforce rate limits
  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
  • Process payments and manage subscriptions
  • Send transactional emails (API key delivery, billing receipts)
  • Detect and prevent abuse, fraud, and security threats
  • Generate aggregate, anonymized usage statistics
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your API call data to build individual trader profiles for advertising purposes.

3. Data Sharing

We share your information only with:

  • Service providers: Stripe (payment processing), cloud hosting providers, and transactional email services — all under data processing agreements
  • Legal requirements: When required by law, court order, or to protect our rights and safety
  • Business transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with user notification

We use minimal cookies:

  • Session cookies: Required for authentication on the dashboard. These expire when you close your browser.
  • Preference cookies: Store your theme/display preferences. Optional and deletable.

We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site tracking.

5. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including TLS encryption in transit, bcrypt password hashing, API keys stored as hashed values, and regular security audits. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.

6. Data Retention

We retain API usage logs for 90 days for operational purposes. Account information is retained for the duration of your account. Upon account deletion, personal data is removed within 30 days except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your account and data
  • Object to certain processing activities
  • Data portability (export your usage data as CSV)
